10K Bets: BMW Championship, Race to Fedex Cup Trophy

Gambling Golf

This week on the PGA Tour is playoff tournament #2 at Olympia Fields in Chicago for the BMW Championship. The field makes up the top 50 golfers still standing in the Fedex Cup playoffs meaning we have a pretty small field compared to a full 144 man regular tournament. It will be the 2nd tournament of 3 that we will see no cut.

Olympia Fields is par 70, tipping out at just about 7400 yards. A middle of the pack length on the PGA Tour that will require great ball striking and precise accuracy in order to succeed. Putting will, as always become an important key as we look at golfers who’ve been trending in a positive direction as far as strokes gained putting during this playoff run.

We tried a different strategy last week for the Fedex St Jude and it unfortunately did not turn out well. I will be going back to our old ways this week with the smaller field.

Rickie Fowler top 20 (+110) Outright Winner (+3500)

We are going back to Rickie this week despite playing pretty average last week. My reasoning for this is he hardly has had 2 bad weeks in a row this year, and he’s some good success at Olympia Fields in his past. Rickie still has all the tools to have an excellent week and with only 50 golfers, top 20 at plus money seems like a great bet for someone who has held his own in big time events this season. I also think +3500 for an outright winner is too rich for me to pass up on.

Tony Finau Top 20 (+115) Outright Winner (+4500)

Finau has struggled the past few events, but he’s chasing a spot for the Ryder Cup team this year in just a few months and is currently a bubble player. Finau knows he has to perform well these next couple weeks, and his length off the tee and ball striking abilities are still some of the best on tour. I also think Tony is criminally undervalued this week for a course that fits his eye very nicely. I can see TF having a wonderful bounce back week and at plus money again for top 20 and 45/1 outright winner, i’ll take a stab on him at Olympia Fields.

Corey Conners Top 20 (-110) Outright Winner (+5000)

Corey played really well last week, having an awesome Sunday securing a top 15 finish. I don’t feel he’s slowing down this week, even money to beat just over half the field seems like really good value. Conners being one of the most accurate drivers on tour and some of the best ball striking around, I can see himself getting into contention pretty early with this one. Again for the value it’s just something i’m not willing to pass on especially after his good play last week.
