Wyndham Championship Golf Tournament

This week on the PGA Tour we head to Greensboro, North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship. The Wyndham is always a fun tournament because it takes place the week before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin. This creates the ultimate fan experience. There’s constant updates as to who’s in and who’s out during the tournament. One birdie or one bogey can be the difference between making and missing not just the cut, but the playoffs.

The Wyndham Championship is a par 70 tipping out just over 7100 yards making it one of the shortest courses on tour. This brings many players into play] as length is not a big key into having success. Instead, hitting fairways becomes paramount and strokes gained on the putting green separates winners from losers. The rough isn’t very penalizing but as for many tournaments, the fairway is key. Tom Kim was the champion last year and he led the field in strokes gained putting and ball striking.

SAMMYSTATS 10K BEST BETS

This week, I have my eye on a few players that I believe will make a splash. Keeping it pretty light this week as my cards will be for bigger for the playoffs.

Sam Burns Top 20 (+150) Outright Winner (+2500)

Sam, as said in previous blogs, has all the tools to win on any given week. If his driving cooperates with him, I find a top 20 very doable. His ball striking is one of the best on tour and with his value this week, I have my eyes on Mr. Burns. He’s proven that he can play under pressure with his 5 PGAT career wins and giving the weaker field this week, I can see himself separating from the field in-charge of grabbing his 6th win.

Cam Davis Top 20 (+220) Outright Winner (+4500)

Cam Davis is coming off a top 10 finish at the 3M Open and after watching his game in person, his way to plot around the golf course lately has been top notch. I see far too much value here this week to pass on Davis. He’s long off the tee and will find himself with plenty of wedges this week.

His wedge game has been one of his strongest suits and his ability to get up and down within 100 yards is some of the best among those in the this week’s tournament. I feel confident that Cam Davis will have a great week here.

JT Poston Top 20 (+180) Outright Winner (+3000)

Similar to Cam Davis, JT Poston has been filling up the cup the past 10 weeks or so playing some of the best golf of his PGAT career. JT finished T2 last week at the 3M Open and again with these odds, I can’t get myself to pass up on him this week. If JT can play anything like he did this past week, a top 20 finish should be no problem. If it wasn’t for a scorching hot Lee Hodges, JT would’ve found himself in the winners circle.
