All-Star Ant.

Basketball NBA Timberwolves

The Ant Ascension

It’s February 19th, 2023, and Ant Edwards is suiting up to start in the first All-Star Game of his career. Rudy Gobert is starting at Center, KAT at Power Forward, Lebron at Small Forward, and Steph Curry at Point Guard. The Wolves are 30-6. They sit at the number 1 spot in the West and all is right in Minnesota…for once.

With all the hype around the Minnesota Timberwolves this offseason and the acquisitions, the Wolves made this is how far I’ve let my mind wander. In reality, this shouldn’t be as far off as most of us think it actually is. The Wolves should be a top 3 team in the west. If Anthony Edwards wants to be a Superstar in this league in Year 3 he has to be an All-Star and, hopefully, a starter.

All of the Tools

I think we all can see it, a truly special athlete that loves the big moment and wants to shine when the lights are the brightest. The rest of the Timberwolves can be a perfect supporting cast. If D-Lo can shoot well this year it will free up space for Ant when he gets the ball. Kat wants to be the star. But time has shown even though he says he wants it that’s just not who he is.

Rudy Gobert is the most ho-hum superstar in this league. They are primed for a breakout season and are in a spot where they are expected to win. Even if they go through injuries should have enough firepower to compete highly in the NBA. He has the ability to get extremely hot while shooting. He can shut down anybody on defense and has the ability to become an elite passer.

Championship or Bust

Calm down… I don’t mean this year. It’s going to take some time for the Timberwolves to gel this season. Playing with the biggest lineup in the league isn’t something that will be perfect from day one. What I am saying is over the course of Rudy Gobert’s contract.

The Minnesota Timberwolves need to be thinking if we do not win or make it to the NBA Finals, this trade was a bust. If Ant can take the step to pull this team from an above-average team to a finals contender. Give him an MVP and crown him the Mayor of Minneapolis. Build him a Statue and make it the dunk that should have counted vs the Heat.

The NBA season is drawing closer. Man, it is fun to finally say the Wolves are going to be good without having to know I am lying. I hope all are excited as I am… we’re just a month and a half away.
