Fantasy football seasons are coming to a close and champions are being crowned all over. Whether you’ve survived one of Paul Charchian‘s very stressful guillotine leagues or maybe you’ve just won back-to-back championships in an empire league and you’re counting your fat stacks of league member-provided cash. Or perhaps somebody that auto-drafted their entire team, never even looked at the waiver wire, and still won your league. It’s not right but it happens.
Another thing that hopefully happens is the transfer of a league trophy. Fantasy football is excellent in large part because you get to prove that you’re better than your friends and family, and a trophy ensures they know it every time they visit.
If you haven’t had a chance to see what I did for groomsmen gifts, you can check that blog out here (hint, it’s swords). What it will teach you is that I tend to go over the top sometimes. I’ve seen a lot of cool fantasy football trophies in my day but my league has the best fantasy football trophy of all time.
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the Christian Ponder Legacy Trophy. The best fantasy football trophy of all time.
Christian Ponder, the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl MVP, was born February 25, 1988. Ponder was drafted with the 12th overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2011 NFL draft. In 2012, Ponder led the NFL in completion percentage in the month of September and was the last quarterback to turn the ball over. After winning 14 incredible games (over his 4 years in Minnesota) he was sadly benched for Teddy Bridgewater. Ponder is, without a doubt, a top 10 Vikings quarterback of all time and it’s an honor to play for a trophy named after him.

The league I play in is called the Shake Weight Football League (SWFL). We’ve been going strong since 2015 which also ironically means nobody in this league ever started Christian Ponder.

The trophy is an almost exact replica of the Vince Lombardi trophy. It stands 22 inches tall. It weighs 7 pounds. It’s an absolute unit.

We used to give out a golden shake weight but decided this was a much better idea.

We got it from a place called Copy Trophy. They’ll make replica trophies for any Super Bowl. They also make World Series trophies, NBA trophies, and more. We split the cost of it equally so that helped ease the pain a bit. Plus the quality of this thing is unmatched.

I don’t expect the Vikings to win a Lombardi trophy anytime soon (although things sure would have been different had the Vikings drafted Tom Brady). But I’m glad that I have a chance every year at winning the best fantasy football trophy of all time, the Christian Ponder Legacy Trophy.
Even though we’ve been a league since 2015, the trophy has only been in the league for the previous two.

Congratulations to the first-ever winner of the Christian Ponder Legacy Trophy, Seth Veegelhoof.

A big congratulations to this year’s Shake Weight Football League Christian Ponder Legacy Trophy winner, my biological father, Tim Lewis. This is his first fantasy football championship and nobody is sure how it happened.

I was in at least 3 people’s Myspace Top 8. I have as many NBA Championships as Tom Brady. I’m probably too old to be here. @NickLewis37
