Did Someone Say Three-Peat?

Football Gophers NCAA

The Georgia Bulldogs dropped the hammer down on the TCU Horned Frogs Monday Night. Since, there’s been plenty of conversation of what happened on the field. Georgia now has won back to back national championships and they are the first team to do so since Alabama in 2011 and 2012. But, when was the last three-peat in college football?

S-E-C! S-E-C!

The SEC’s dominance is well-known compared to the rest of Power 5 conferences. Six different SEC schools have won national championships since the implementation of the BCS in the late 90’s. None of the five other schools have done what Georgia has an opportunity to do in 2023: Three-peat. Somehow, someway, those inbreds in Athens will have a chance to win three consecutive National Championships.

We have to do something about this schedule for 2023. How did Georgia get away with scheduling this? Who is going to beat this Georgia team in the regular season? Florida and Tennessee would be the best bets, but the rest of the schedule looks to be a cupcake with extra frosting.

Three-Peat!

The last school to three-peat in college football? Minnesota. Yes, the Golden Gophers won three consecutive championships from 1934 to 1936. Almost 90 years and no program has been able to replicate the dominance of the Gophers in the 1930’s! Minnesota has seven national championships overall. It’s easy to forget how successful the Gophers once were.

Ohio State and Michigan lead the Big Ten in conference championships, but who has the third most? Yup, you guessed it! The Minnesota Golden Gophers. They haven’t won a conference championship since the 1967 season. I’d say the Gophers are long overdue for a return to glory!

The Gophers amazing feat may soon be replicated by the Georgia Football program. The Dawgs have a manageable schedule and one of the most incredibly talented pipelines college football has ever seen. But, let’s not forget about Minnesota. Maybe PJ can wake up the sleeping giant.
