Masters Week, Could it be Rory’s Time?

Gambling

The time is finally here, the magical first week in April. As Spring approaches, there are no better four days than in Augusta, Georgia as we watch the PGA Tour & LIV Golf combine forces to put on the greatest golfing event of the calendar year. Will this be Tiger’s last trip to Augusta? What will happen if a LIV player wins? Will Rory Mcilroy finally get his green jacket? So many headlines stir up this week at Augusta and the hype surrounding the event has never been higher.

The Masters is the most sought-after tournament in the world and this year it will have an added element, league competition. Since the LIV Tour was granted eligibility to participate, the Masters will showcase more of the world’s best, like Dustin Johnson, Cam Smith, and Juaquin Niemann. Personally, this is what golf fans want to watch, and makes handicapping the sport more dynamic.

As a sports handicapper, (and an avid golfer) there are very few things better than Masters Week. In my opinion, there are three guys that have the best value statistically at Augusta National:

Rory Mcilroy has been knocking on the doorstep at Augusta for the past 7 years, with finishes of 2nd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 20th, and 4th. He missed the cut just once, in 2021. Could it be Rory’s Time? Mr. Mcillroy has too much talent to not at least get himself into contention on the weekend.

Rory Mcilroy Top 10 (-125 odds) Rory Mcilroy outright winner (+800)

Another guy that jumps out to me is Dustin Johnson, who plays on the LIV tour but has a green jacket for himself. He has felt comfortable at Augusta National, winning in 2020 and had a T-12 finish last year. DJ has incredible value in playing well here at Augusta National this year. DJ has been out of the spotlight, as many LIV players have, but has incredible accuracy with his irons. This is one of his biggest strengths and will contribute to his playing well at Augusta.

Dustin Johnson Top 20 (+110 odds)

Lastly, another player that has caught my eye this week is Sam Burns. Sam is coming off a nice win where he went 7-0-0 at the Dell Match Play in Texas, beating Cam Young in the Championship 6&5. Sam notched his 5th professional win of his PGA Tour career and has been firing on all cylinders. I am rolling with the hot hand here as Augusta plays well into his strong suits.

Finally, if you can find it, One Prop that I absolutely love taking that has had recent success at Augusta is the anytime Hole In One. We’ve seen a Hole in One in 2021, 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2016. Typically I’ve seen this prop around (+250) hitting in 5 of the last 7 years. I love the value given on this prop!

In closing, I hope everyone has an awesome Masters weekend and always remember to wager responsibly.
