New Year Resolutions

Hockey NHL Wild

Happy New Year Minnesota Wild fans!

Another year has passed and 2023 is now upon us where we can only hope this is the year the Wild can make it past the first round of the playoffs. Remember if they do, a certain someone will shave their head…

Now, as I sat outside watching fireworks cover the horizon, I thought of what some of my new year resolutions could be for 2023. Here’s what I came up with:

  • Golf more
  • Write more blogs
  • Travel more (15 trips in 2022 wasn’t enough)
  • Spend more time with family and friends
I still suck

I feel like some of this list is repetitive, however, I will stand by it confidently and power through the new year with optimism!

What About the Wild?

Writing this list made me wonder “What will the Minnesota Wild‘s New Year Resolutions look like?” After much speculation and whiskey, this is what I think.

  • Trade for a top-6 forward
  • Make a deep playoff run
  • Trade away Dumba once and for all

I feel confident with this list. Will it happen? I truly think we’ll see a much different team in the new year. They’re playing GREAT hockey now, but there’s room for growth. Being in the cap crunch they’re in makes trading for a top-6 forward a little difficult, but IN BILLY G WE TRUST!

With a new forward on the team, that’ll give players the opportunity to EXPLODE. (cough cough Matt Boldy). He’s playing great hockey but definitely missing a consistent linemate. Players exploding, wins being racked up, the pieces are just about aligned for that deep playoff push.

Last, Dumba. It’s inevitable. He’s going to be gone whether we like it or not. This isn’t anything new though. We’ve known this was coming for the past few years and the time has now come where the move has to be executed. Whether it happens before the trade deadline or in the offseason, it’s going to happen.

Friends, I know this is as cliche as it gets, but 2023 is going to be a great year. And no matter the outcome for the Wild, I hope you all have an AMAZING new year. Cheers all and as always, LET’S GO WILD!
