PGA Championship, the People’s Tournament

The time is finally here. The 2023 PGA Championship at famous Oak Hill Country Club. This week there’ll be plenty of headlines surrounding the tournament. Will Justin Thomas go back-to-back? Will Jon Rahm grab his 2nd major trophy of the season or will a LIV golfer like Dustin Johnson stir up the PGA? This will be 72 holes of madness and I am all here for it.

I call it the people’s tournament because this course has the sharpest of teeth. Insane rough combined with a 7500-yard par 70 with two 600+ yard par 5’s. There is nothing easy about this course and it will test the best in the world. In my opinion, this is the best kind of golf. We the people want to see the pros struggle because we can relate. Birdie shows are great and all, but it’s how players battle through adversity which is the real treat for the viewers.

Oak Hill is a bombers course but also requires accuracy as these fairways are the 4th hardest to hit on tour. If you miss the fairway, you are twice as likely to bogey. This week we will be backing golfers with great tee to green stats as well as driving accuracy.

As mentioned above, we’ll be looking closely into driving distance, driving accuracy and good tee to green players. All of which will be crucial in crowning our 2023 PGA Championship winner. This week I have locked in three top 20 bets, a top 10 bet as well as a few outright winners that, for the value, are too hard to pass up.

Jon Rahm

First up with be Jon Rahm. No surprise here. Jon has been nothing shy of unbelievable this year on the golf course. He averages just over 315 off the tee and finds fairways very consistently. His iron play is top 10 on Tour and seems to just have a knack for showing up in big time tournaments.

Jon Rahm Top 10 (-110) Outright Winner (+850)

Tony Finau

Next up, we are backing Tony Finau. Similar story here with Tony. Long off the tee, great irons, above average putter and has had a great season thus far. Tony doesn’t have a major victory and it’s really only a matter of time.

Tony Finau Top 20 (+105) Outright Winner (+2100)

Dustin Johnson

Next, we are backing a LIV golfer who is no stranger to big moments and major championships. Dustin Johnson is coming off his 3rd LIV tournament win last week in Tulsa. DJ has incredible talent in all facets of his game. Long hitter, consistent irons and a spectacular short game. We see Dustin undervalued this week and we will be all over him.

Dustin Johnson Top 20 (+120) Outright Winner (+2400)

Brooks Koepka

Finally, our last golfer we are tailing this week is another LIV player. Brooks Koepka is a PGA championship machine winning back to back PGA’s in 2018 and 2019. Brooks is a different animal at major tournaments. He’s also won back to back US Open’s in 2017 and 2018 as well. It’s no secret he brings the special sauce when its major championship week. We saw this again with his 2nd place finish at the Masters just a couple months ago after leading for most of the tournament.

Brooks Koepka Top 20 (+110) Outright Winner (+2100)
