10K Bets: The Players Championship Betting Preview

Gambling Golf

It’s Players week baby. The Players tournament is arguably the best nonmajor of the year and comes with the biggest purse of the season. There’s no doubting it, it’s a big-time tournament with the best in the world teeing it up. This week we will find out whose got the stones to take this down under tremendous pressure.

The Players is played every year at TPC Sawgrass in Florida with its famous 17th hole Island Green. TPC Sawgrass is a par 72 tipping out at at 7,250 yards. Certainly a pretty getable golf course with a fairly average tour distance. What makes TPC Sawgrass tricky is the rough and the water which can be an absolute nightmare. The 17th hole continues to hold the record for most balls in the water and despite the short distance, can very much ruin your round.

I have a few guys I find value in this week and therefore will be pulling the trigger on them. They’ve proven to have a good track record here. These golfers are tremendously undervalued especially in the form they are currently playing in.

Min Woo Lee Outright Winner (+5500) Top 20 (+200)

MWL is coming off a top 20 finish at the Arnold Palmer and gained strokes tee to green in each of his last 4 rounds. Lee was also a top 40 putter in the field in strokes gained on the green. In addition to Min Woo’s recent play, he also was tied for the lead going into Sunday last year at the Players. I think Min Woo could be a system play here and at 55/1 I will gladly jump on his this week.

Wyndham Clark Outright Winner (+5500) Top 20 (+220)

Clark is another guy I find criminally underrated. Wyndham already has a win this year and has yet to miss a cut. He also is coming off his best year on Tour winning twice including the U.S Open. Clark’s in great form with his length off the tee and his ball striking. I would be less than surprised to see him have a good week. Again, I’ll gladly jump on this number for Clark this week.

Shane Lowry Outright Winner (+4500) Top 20 (+175)

My last long shot we are going with this week at the Players is Suga Shane Lowry. Lowry has started the season red hot and see no signs of him slowing down. Shane has held the 54-hole lead for back-to-back tournaments. It’s really only a matter of time until he closes it out on Sunday. 45/1 outright for a guy who’s consistently been in the hunt this season to me is quite a comical number. Maybe there’s some Irish luck with Lowry this week.
