The Pros and Cons of Being a Minnesota Sports Fan

Everything Else

There are MANY joys of being a Minnesota Sports fan. However, there are MANY heartaches of being a Minnesota sports fan, too. It’s a rollercoaster ride, to say the least. From the adrenaline-pumping highs to the soul-crushing lows, there’s never a dull moment when you’re rooting for Minnesota teams. Here’s a closer look at the ups and downs that come with the territory.

Pros:

The Game Day Atmosphere

There’s nothing quite like the electrifying atmosphere of a live game in Minnesota. The crowd’s energy is intense and the chants and cheers reverberate through the stadium/arena. It’s an experience that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.

I mean seriously, if this doesn’t make you bite your lip and sweat a little then something is wrong with you.

The Beer

Minnesota boasts a thriving craft beer scene and game day is the perfect excuse to indulge in some of the state’s finest brews. Whether you’re toasting to a Jefferson touchdown, a Kaprizov goal or drowning your sorrows after a loss, the beer is always cold and refreshing.

Friendships Forged in Fanhood

Being a Minnesota sports fan means you’re part of a tight-knit community. The friendship among fans is unparalleled. You’ll make lifelong friends in the stands, at tailgate parties or even in online fan forums. These are the folks who’ll be by your side, cheering or bitching, no matter what.

Did I Mention the Beer?

Seriously, it’s worth mentioning twice. Minnesota’s beer game is strong and there’s nothing like sharing a cold one with fellow fans while discussing the latest plays, players and predictions.

Cons:

Playoff Heartbreaks

Every year, hope springs eternal, only to be dashed in the most agonizing ways. It’s a cycle that’s all too familiar to us Minnesota fans: soaring expectations followed by crushing disappointment.

The Emotional Rollercoaster

Being a Minnesota sports fan is not for the faint of heart. The emotional ups and downs can be intense. One minute you’re on cloud nine, convinced that this is THE year. The next, you’re plunged into the depths of despair as life itself seems to crash and burn.

Never Enough Alcohol to Numb the Pain

No explanation needed.

Being a Minnesota sports fan is a unique experience. The highs are exhilarating and the lows can be tough to bear. But through it all, the passion, camaraderie and most importantly the beer make it all worthwhile.
