While some loser NFL franchises are still playing games, a few teams like the Vikings are looking to completely change how we do things because we’re trash. And about two weeks after we canned Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer, the Vikings got a new captain.
Who is Kwesi Adofo-Mensah?Our new general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah first off has a badass name. I wish I had a cool first name. With my first name being Aaron, all the fun I really get is people spelling it the girl way and have people yell the Key and Peele “Ya done messd up A-A-Ron” at me numerous times a year. Back to business, he comes to us form the beautiful city of Cleveland, Ohio. Home of the Browns where he was the VP of football operations.
Not gonna lie, I had never heard of Kwesi before a couple days ago when the Vikings initially interviewed him for the GM gig. This is probably because I have no fucking clue who any NFL teams Vice President of Football Operations is. While writing this I looked up the Vikings. What up Rob Brzezinski? To be a higher up in any NFL organization I’m assuming you’ve got to be pretty god damn smart. Kwesi is. He went to fucking Princeton. That’s one of those schools where you never personally know anyone who has ever gone there. Im convinced it’s reserved for politicians, CEO’s and NFL general managers.
It even looks like a place where smart people would reside.
How Can You Not Be Romantic About Football?Kwesi graduated in 2003 with a degree in economics. When I first heard this, I immediately thought of the movie Moneyball…and that got me excited.
Stats and analytics are becoming the name of the game in just about all professional sports. That’s something that I don’t think Spielman really gave too many shits about. I’m also pretty sure that Zimmer didn’t know what analytics were. He made most of his decisions based on if his dip was sitting well in his lip or not.
This is how imagine Spielman and Zimmer walked into the Monday morning meeting after we loss to the Lions.
Is He The Answer?
I fucking hope so.Spielman was here for so long and he did do a very ok job. We we’re definitely due for a change and Kwesi is a good start.
It’s got me excited that we’re bringing in someone with a fresh outlook on the game and hope Kwesi and the Wilfs go in the same direction for a head coach. Might finally have someone that the players can relate to.
Cheers to Kwesi and new Vikings regime! We’ll see you in Arizona next year around this time.
