There’s something to be said about doing the right thing. Because it isn’t always the right thing. Here in Minnesota, our past draft picks have been a laughing stock. No need to bring up other sports teams and their egregious errors, because the Vikings have plenty of their own. Trae Waynes didn’t do shit, Mike Hughes started hot and then got hurt and never got good again. Jeff Gladney is a monster. No need to speak on Mack and the “wide receiver” Laquon Treadwell. And the draft pain goes back further. So, with the new regime and refreshed thinking, why not grab the Best Player Available? We saw exactly how well the BPA approach worked for the Vikings before. Back in 1998, the Vikes were stacked at wideout, but still took Randy Moss with the 21st overall pick. That move altered the trajectory of the franchise greatly, even though it ultimately did not get us a Lombardi.
So, why get a Wide Receiver now when we’re currently pretty stacked? Well, needs changes. And time is always of the essence. Adam Thielen is already 31, will he be a Viking for life? Justin Jefferson is gonna be due a metric fuck load of cash coming up in the near future. With all the new deals raising the market on Wide Receivers, he deserves to be paid like the best. KJ Osborn and Ihmir Smith-Marsette look like promising depth guys, but nothing is guaranteed. So if we’re not about to draft defense, who should the Vikings take?
Drake LondonHere is my obsession at pick #12. After watching highlight videos on YouTube, I was obsessed. London plays like a true #1 wide receiver, and he’s tough as nails. Great vision and he can go get the 50/50 balls, which apparently is uber important to every draft expert. Now, could you imagine him tearing it up out the slot with JJ AND Thielen in the lineup? That’s fucking cash. Forget having a relevant defense, with that offense you just need to score more. I’m taking London in my mock draft 12/12 times.
Another guy I like Is Jameson Williams from Alabama. He plays like a beast, and can run like the freaking wind. He tore his ACL in the natty but with our roster and his skill, we could afford to wait til he’s 100% healthy. And you know about Alabama Wide Receivers: either they’re star players or major fuckups. Here’s to hoping we wouldn’t get the latter. Knowing Minnesota sports, it would be. Nah, fuck that. POSITIVE VIBES ONLY!Skol.
