Wolves Win – Everyone Breathe

A basketball game that had it all. From clutch threes from D’Angelo Russel to a Peta activist gluing herself to the floor, the Wolves and Target Center came to play. An electric crowd exploded when Anthony Edwards threw down a monstrous dunk midway through the 4th. For most of the game, the Timberwolves trailed and it looked like a typical Minnesota Sports story. We play well all year and on the biggest night our superstar doesn’t show up and we end up losing. Actually, that did happen.

Karl Anthony Towns fouled out with more than 7 minutes left in the game and left the Wolves down 7 points without their best player to mount a comeback.

The Wolves are back, Jack.

When the Superstar that has led Minnesota to victory all year long was suddenly in foul trouble the Wolves hit adversity and stared down a fork in the road. Either rise up to the occasion, or fail like all the teams that have inhabited Target Center in the past 20 years. Like I’ve told you before…This team is different. The Wolves didn’t falter.

Even without their best player, the Timberwolves banned together and bounced back like they have been telling us they would all year. We just weren’t listening.

The comeback was led by the trio of Patrick Beverly, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russel, who arguably played his best game of the year with a clutch three late to break the game open for the Howl.

Anthony Edwards looked like his old self throwing down a monster dunk and hitting multiple threes. Minnesota needed all of his 30 point effort to come back and seal the victory and a spot in the playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies.

I was going to continue this paragraph but this man needs his own…

I Love Pat-Bev

Clown on him all you want. Listen to the cast at TNT telling him he shouldn’t be celebrating for winning the play-in game. Tell him to get off the table this isn’t the Finals. It’s okay to have that opinion, but I could care less.Go blow out someone else’s birthday candles or continue your job working as a meter maid putting tickets on people’s vehicles.

Patrick Beverly embodies a leader and deserved this win more than anyone. A castaway from a team that thought they could win without him. The Clippers played a great game for 40 of the 48 minutes, but when it came down to will and grit, they came up short, going cold in the fourth quarter as the Wolves went on a 21-5 run and sealed the victory at Target Center 109-104.

Glue Girl? Yes, you heard that right.

Besides the madness that was the game at Target Center, a PETA activist stole the show. Midway through the game while the Timberwolves’ playoff hopes were slowly fading “Glue Girl” came out like the mighty ducks wearing the old duck’s jerseys to turn the game around. Our MVP. No, I’m not making this up. An Animal rights activist sporting a shirt saying “Glen Taylor Roasts Animals Alive” came sprinting onto the court gluing her hand to the court and ultimately having to be carried off of the floor. It’s been reported that the Current Wolves owner owns a chicken farm in Iowa that isn’t getting the most praise from his friends at PETA.

Game, Blouses.

Celebrate. Print the T-shirts. The Wolves are back and are here to stay. We’ve been the laughing stock of the NBA for 2 decades, but now? Now, we finally got one. That being said, let’s not kid ourselves. The real work starts Saturday as the Timberwolves take on the Grizzlies. (Which, we may have a real shot of upsetting in a 7 game series). It’s fun to have meaningful basketball back in Minnesota for the first time in a while. Wolves fans can come out of the darkness and forget about the Minnesota curse we all endure for a couple of days.

Wolves Back.

As always,

Howl.
